Inflate it with a compressor. Spray with soap/water around the edges of the wheel/tire and look for leaks, as well as the valve stem. Once at optimum pressure, I'd even put it on the car and drive it around the block and park it overnight. Check pressure in the morning to see if it's the same (as long as the temperature is the roughly the same when you check it). Your spare is there for emergency purposes only. That being said, don't drive on it forever if you have to use it. Last year, I drove with mine for 250 miles as I was in the middle of nowhere when mine blew and I had no issues, mind you, it was the already inflated 2+2 spare tire. If you have a bbk, you're fucked.
